New photos have been released of a gray SUV that was photographed on Nov. 24, 2022, hours after an Audi driver struck and killed 19-year-old Philadelphia resident Guiermo Che in Aberdeen.
Shortly before 2:15 a.m. on the night of the fatal incident, troopers from the Maryland State Police JFK Memorial Highway Barrack were called to the southbound lanes of I-95 near Maryland Route 22 to investigate a hit-and-run crash involving pedestrians.
Investigators say that three pedestrians were on the shoulder of the road putting gas into a vehicle when what police believe was a white 2016 Audi A5 with tinted windows, for unknown reasons, veered onto the shoulder and struck them.
Che was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two were transported by an ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of their injuries.
According to police, during the course of the investigation, a gray SUV, believed to possibly be a Mazda CX5, was also identified as a vehicle of interest.
The SUV was seen at about 4 a.m. on that same night in the parking lot of the clubhouse of the Greenway Farms development on Rankokus Drive in Havre De Grace.
Officials said that the SUV was seen again in the parking lot at approximately 4:08 a.m. the same day.
Both times the SUV was seen outside the clubhouse it was stopped next to the Audi A5, which was identified as the suspect vehicle, which has already been seized by state police during the investigation.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team continue to investigate.
Anyone with information regarding the crash, vehicle, or driver of the SUV, has been asked to contact the JFK Memorial Highway Barrack by calling (410) 537-1150.
